Jezebel is not a personality type. It is a spirit on an assignment to usurp authority. Its strategy is not to seize the seat of authority, but to seduce the one who holds it. This spirit seeks to work through our relationships, finances, families, workplaces and churches. If we only look for the obvious signs, we will miss where it is really gaining ground.
Jesus commended the church at Thyatira for their love, faith and service, yet He rebuked them for tolerating Jezebel (Revelation 2:20). That Word still speaks to the Church today, and it begins with a personal question: where am I tolerating this spirit?
